Proof of access for digital downloads

Template packs, design assets, ebooks, and software archives are delivered as links and files. Proving access means showing issuance and use of those delivery paths, not only that a card was charged.

Delivery is a sequence, not a single click

A typical download sale moves through purchase, confirmation email, delivery-link issuance, link open, and file transfer. Each step may live in a different system. When a buyer later claims non-delivery, the merchant must reconstruct that sequence from tools that do not share a common export format.

Link expiration, one-time download limits, and license terms add nuance. A charge timestamp without link-issuance and access events leaves a gap exactly where the dispute argument often sits.

What to capture when you can

Useful items for download merchants often include purchase details, license or usage terms version, delivery-link creation time, link access, file access or download completion signals from your host, and refund or reissue activity. Label each item with its source. Do not present a browser-side beacon as if a payment provider verified it.

Why after-the-fact screenshots fall short

Opening the file host today and photographing a download counter may help. It is still a late observation. Contemporaneous logs written when the link was issued and when the file was accessed are harder to dismiss as selective reconstruction. Readwhy screenshots are weak evidencefor a fuller treatment.

Limits worth stating

Not every host exposes rich access events. Some merchants will rely on merchant-server webhooks or uploads for part of the record. Planned connectors are not live until labeled Available on theintegrations page. No evidence package can force a particular dispute result.
